Creating the 2tall podcast: A Creative lead's journey from set design to strategic storytelling
As the Creative Lead and Project Manager for the 2tall podcast, I led every aspect of the production from inception to completion, ensuring a cohesive and engaging experience for our audience. I began by immersing myself in the podcasting landscape, meticulously researching industry trends, audience preferences, and content strategies to inform our unique approach. A critical part of my role involved scouting and selecting set locations that aligned with the podcast’s visual and thematic goals, taking into account lighting, acoustics, and the overall ambiance to enhance the viewer experience.
I was also responsible for designing the set, thoughtfully curating every visual element to reflect the brand’s personality and resonate with our target demographic. This included choosing furniture, props, and background elements that would create an inviting and professional environment suitable for both video and audio recording.
As a strategic creative touch, I devised the idea of displaying upcoming season products on a rail in the background, subtly showcasing our ‘coming soon’ lines to viewers. This not only added an extra layer of visual interest but also served as an innovative way to keep our audience engaged with our brand’s evolving product offerings.
In addition to set design, I sourced high-quality audio recording equipment that met our specific needs, ensuring crisp, clear sound that would elevate the listening experience. I also meticulously evaluated and selected video equipment, confirming it was fit for purpose and capable of capturing the vibrant essence of our content in high definition.
Throughout the process, I collaborated closely with my team of creatives, scripting engaging episodes and overseeing the entire production workflow, including the editing of the finished video. I ensured a seamless fusion of audio storytelling and visual aesthetics, crafting a narrative that not only resonated deeply with our audience but also maintained a high standard of production quality. Through my leadership and creative direction, we cultivated a distinct brand identity and continuously strived to captivate our social media audience with engaging, relevant video content.
Now in 2025, we aim to bring a second series of Tall Stories to our loyal community of followers, starting with a brand new set design. Here are the initial mockups.
